Kathmandu: A breakthrough was achieved today as the government officials and representatives of the agitating doctors' struggle committee signed a comprehensive six-point agreement, leading to the cessation of all protest programs by the doctors.

The signing ceremony, held in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha, marks a significant development in resolving the ongoing issues between the government and the agitating doctors.

As per the terms of the agreement, the government has committed to ensuring a robust security provision for health workers and healthcare institutions. The security coordination committee will be activated to oversee and implement these measures effectively.

In cases of attacks or violence against health workers, the government has pledged to prosecute the culprits in accordance with existing laws and is open to amending laws if necessary. Furthermore, a high-level task force will be established to investigate and identify the root causes of assaults and mistreatments against doctors.

The agreement was formally sealed by Acting Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr. Dipendra Raman Singh, representing the government, and Dr. Sheshraj Ghimire, on behalf of the agitating doctors' committee. The resolution is expected to pave the way for a more secure and supportive environment for healthcare professionals, ensuring their safety and well-being in the line of duty.
